Practitioner Training is conducted by Christine Bauman. Chris has been teaching Buteyko since 2000. She was the first Canadian Buteyko Educator and Trainer with the accredited Buteyko Institute of Breathing and Health(BIBH). Training sites have included Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Waterloo.
Chris was part of the first North American medical trial on Buteyko and asthma at Foothills Hospital in Calgary, Alberta in 2004. She has a Masters in Teaching, CPR, First Aid and Teacher Training certificates.
Chris also team-teaches with Jennifer Stark, who is a co-founder of the BIBH. In addition to teaching over 7,000 clients, Jennifer has trained over 100 practitioners worldwide. She has collaborated on several medical studies including the trial in Calgary, Alberta and in Gisborne, New Zealand. She wrote ‘The Carbon Dioxide Syndrome’, a comprehensive resource on the method, available through Buteyko Canada.
Steps to becoming a practitioner:

Reading and theoretical assignments are completed long-distance. |

After the Intensive program: |
|
|
Trainees will continue to observe and teach with Chris or another accreditted Buteyko Institute of Breathing and Health member until they have observed a total of 50 clients. |
|
|
Trainees can begin teaching immediately with daily support and supervision by Chris. Case studies of their first 50 clients are evaluated by the trainer. |
 |
A written examination and class observation by the trainer, completes the training. |
 |
Full Accreditation by the Buteyko Institute of Breathing and Health follows. |

The cost for the training is $4,000 CAD, to be paid in installments. |
